Dwight Kalvig
CEO of Kalvig & Associates, Inc., Dwight Kalvig, is a Registered Tax Return Preparer and second-generation owner. Kalvig & Associates was founded in 1974 by Dwight’s father, Alvin H. Kalvig. As a Bemidji State University graduate, Dwight began working at Kalvig & Associates in 1978 and bought the company in 1994. He takes on a wide variety of bookkeeping, accounting, and tax challenges and appreciates the diverse clients he serves.
Dwight recognizes that his clients’ success reflects Kalvig & Associates’ success. Whether he’s working with a small-business retailer, a farmer, a retired teacher, a corporate officer, a medical professional, or a factory worker, Dwight is ready to assist in creating, preparing, maintaining, or filing the financial records necessary to operate a business or a household. He finds it rewarding to own a small business that truly cares about all of its clients and strives to help them make good choices and benefit from sound, competent, and accurate financial information. Dwight has been married to his wife, Sandy, for 42 years and they have two daughters. As a proud Blackduck resident since 1973, Dwight believes that Blackduck, the outdoor recreation playground of Northern Minnesota, is a community that offers the wonderful qualities of small-town life. Dwight says, “Blackduck can be described as your typical small Midwestern town. However, a closer look reveals an award-winning school system, a strong law enforcement presence, and high-quality recreational options for all ages. Blackduck is an ideal community for staying active in any month. It isn’t Lake Wobegon or Mayberry, but it’s pretty darn close. I graduated from high school in Blackduck, as did my wife and our two children. Blackduck is a great place to grow up and raise a family.” Being active in this thriving community is important to the Kalvig family. Dwight has coached all levels of local baseball and fastpitch softball since 1978 and he is currently the Blackduck High School varsity boys’ baseball coach. He is also a active member of the Blackduck Development Corporation, a member of the Blackduck Civic & Commerce Association, and a past president of the Blackduck Jaycees and the Blackduck Summer Baseball program. In previous years, he was a member of the Blackduck Lions and a representative on the Blackduck Planning Commission. He also volunteered with the Blackduck Volunteer Fire Department for more than 20 years. The Kalvig family is extremely active with the First Presbyterian Church of Blackduck. They are also boosters of many of the community’s youth programs. In his free time, Dwight enjoys fishing in the summer and has been known to play a round of golf on occasion. His other pastimes include reading and solving puzzles. |
